Major research
Systems with broad effects on how missions play.
01
Stealth
How hearing, sight, alertness, memory, group reactions, and target selection combine when enemies notice a Helldiver.
02
Sight
How enemy vision changes with direction, distance, stance, stealth armour, sensor type, and line of sight.
03
Hearing & sound
How far footsteps, weapons, impacts, and other sounds travel, which enemies hear farther, and what suppressors actually reduce.
04
Alertness & target selection
How enemies stay alert, relay reactions, remember possible targets, choose who to attack, and respond after losing sight.
05
Danger & suppression
How projectile near misses build Danger, how accumulated Danger feeds AI behavior, and why aim flinch is a separate target-specific response.
06
Patrols
How several Patrol timers run at once, what speeds them up, and how the game chooses a group, direction, route, and spawn location.
07
Encounter timing
Why ordinary reinforcement timing changes during a mission, and how objective encounters, scripted waves, and Patrols use separate timing systems.
08
Weapon recoil
How drift, camera climb, stance, movement, recovery, injuries, exertion, charge, heat, point shooting, and camera shake shape firing recoil.
09
Damage resolution
How armor and penetration resolve, how periodic damage carries fractional values between ticks, and when projectiles continue through a target.
10
Projectile damage falloff
How retained projectile speed changes direct damage, why distance is only an indirect factor, and how movement, armor, durability, and pass-through interact with falloff.
11
Explosion falloff & demolition
How explosion distance changes damage, Demolition Force, armor penetration, stagger, push, and status strength, including the separate standard and wide-blast curves.
12
Explosions & line of sight
How one explosion can damage several body parts, how each part contributes to main health, and when blast damage requires line-of-sight verification.
13
Enemy constellations & composition
Interactive composition-tag odds, spawn-template composition, and specialist replacements across Patrols, guard forces, Encounters, and traveling groups.

Recent findings
Heavy SEAF Presence and enemy spawn timers
An active SEAF contingent sets a 1.60× minimum on ordinary Patrol and enemy reinforcement countdown speeds. The minimum ends when SEAF activity resets, including after sufficient losses under a conditional survivor-count rule.
Explosive multipart damage and line of sight
One explosion can damage several body parts on the same enemy, and each accepted part can independently contribute to main health through its own multiplier. Current heavy-enemy data also confirms that explosion verification is configured per body part.
Optional objective generation
Current mission-generation data confirms that the possible tactical objectives depend on the selected mission setup. Difficulty changes the number of draws, while map conditions and weighted selection change individual objective odds such as LiDAR Station.
Objective machinery can generate AI-hearing noise
Some active objective terminals emit ordinary AI-hearing events from the objective itself. The common profile has an 80 m base range and score 30, and Launch ICBM mission data contains the same objective-noise system. This can make nearby enemies react without giving them a Helldiver's exact position.
